Music Rights are Human Rights - Ensuring Musical Expression for All

This presentation outlines how the bigger picture of 'Human Rights' can, and should, impact our arguments for the value of music in the lives of all people. First presented at the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) Australian conference this year, this presentation outlines how the unique constitutional situation in Australia provides challenges that are worth examining for everyone involved in the arts.

Cat Hope is a composer, musician, artistic director and academic. She is the co-author of ‘Digital Arts - An introduction to New Media’ (Bloomsbury, 2014) and presented the 2018 Peggy Glanville Hicks address entitled "All Music For Everyone: Working Towards Gender Equality and Empowerment in Australian Music Culture". Cat is the director of the Decibel new music ensemble and Professor of Music at Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance at Monash University.

Staff, students and members of the public can join via Zoom here.
